The 225-metre coal carrier, Pasha Bulker, has been stuck on Newcastle's popular Nobby's Beach, 160km north of Sydney, since Friday.
Salvage crews were airlifted onto the ship yesterday and will camp there as violent coastal conditions have eased.
The ship was empty of cargo when it beached and aerial inspections have found no sign of pollutants leaking from the vessel, which is carrying more than 700 tonnes of fuel and oil.
