Nadal ends Federer reign at Wimbledon

Nadal last night, defeated Federer in the final of Wimbledon, his victory at his third finals attempt was the longest final ever but he wasn't complaining, having just dethroned the king of grass, 6-4, 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-7 (8-10), 9-7.

It was delayed by rain, and then interrupted twice, finishing in near-darkness after five dramatic sets. Eventually, in four hours and 48 minutes, it was over, one of the greatest of all finals and certainly the longest.
The first Spanish man to triumph at the All England Club since Manolo Santana's breakthrough in 1966, he is also the first man since Bjorn Borg in 1980 to complete the rare French Open-Wimbledon double, adding the prestigious grasscourt major to his four on clay at Roland Garros.

Stephanie Rice and Eamon Sullivan win racy undies deal

Glamour Australian swimming couple Eamon Sullivan and Stephanie Rice have entered a joint six-figure advertising deal predicted to be the start of sponsorship millions.
But they have also revealed they rarely see each other outside competition as they put everything aside to pursue Olympic gold.
Sullivan and Rice live on opposite sides of the country and rely on phone calls and text messages.
But they did have enough time to strip off together to become the new faces - and bodies - of Davenport.

Australia's Next Thorpedo
He's only 12 but Wollongong schoolboy Te Haumi Maxwell is making a splash - breaking records set by legend Ian Thorpe.
They aren't the times which took Thorpe to world championships and Olympic gold but the district age records and state age times are enough to signal this young swimmer's potential.
So impressive was Maxwell at the recent Western Districts short course (25m pool) championships, NSW Institute of Sport head coach Jim Fowlie has taken a personal interest in his future.
Maxwell, a Year 7 student at Edmund Rice College, bettered the 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 100m individual medley times set by Thorpe back in 1995. His 25.52sec swim in the 50m freestyle was almost 3sec faster than Thorpe's district record and was more than 0.5sec faster than the state age record, also held by Thorpe at the time.
"I haven't done much yet with my swimming but I want to go to the Olympics. I want to represent Australia.''

Lewis is Hot on the Track and Hot Off it
Formula One’ sexy racing sensation, rookie Lewis Hamilton pulled off his second straight victory in Sunday's U.S. Grand Prix adding another accomplishment to his already impressive career.
He is the first black driver in the history of Formula One racing to finish in the top three of all seven races, and at 22 years his Hamilton is proving to be a force in the competition.
Hamilton was born in the United Kingdom in 1985 and was named after legendary Olympian Carl Lewis. Lewis need for speed seemed to rub off on the youngster who began go kart racing at the age of eight and worked his way up through the racing world.
In 1998 he became the youngest driver ever to secure a F1 contract when he signed with Mercedes Mclaren.
On his debut outing this year, he finished in the top three of the race and became only the thirteenth driver in history to do so on their debut run. Hamilton was also the first and only black driver in the 61 year history of F1 to take to the track.

Michael Phelps breaks Thorpedo's World Record
Michael Phelps has smashed Ian Thorpe's world 200m freestyle record, recording a time of one minute 43.86 seconds to defend his world title at the 12th FINA World Championships.
The expected battle between Phelps and Dutchman Pieter Van Den Hoogenband did not eventuate, with the American blowing the 2000 Olympic gold medallist away in the final 100 metres of the race.
In the end, the biggest battle was between Phelps and the clock, and the American sensation won out, breaking the championship and world mark set by the Australian in the 2001 world championships in Fukuoka by 0.20 of a second.
He becomes the first swimmer to set a new world mark in the Susie O'Neill Pool, and adds this gold to the one he won in the men's 4 x 100m relay.
Already the most successful swimmer in world championships history before this event, Phelps has now built the foundation of a championships that could yield eight gold medals.
I will say Phelps is not the cutest boy but he is the best male swimmer in the world today, to celebrate what will be a huge week in the pool at the 12th FINA World Championships for him I have posted some great pictures of him below.

12th FINA World Championships

Park Tae-hwan of South Korea pulled off an upset at the first swimming final of the world championships Sunday, coming from behind to knock off Aussie favorite Grant Hackett in the 400-meter freestyle.
Park made a furious sprint over the final 50 meters, passing three swimmers Hackett included before he touched the wall in 3 minutes, 44.30 seconds to become South Korea's first world champion.
In fact, it was the first medal of any kind for the South Koreans in the history of the world aquatic championships.
Another first was the 4 x 100 mens freestyle African American swimmer, He is the first to ever represent America in a world championships and thus the first to ever win a medal and that colour was GOLD.
South Africa's Roland Schoeman wins back to back world title in the 50metre butterfly, he took 1 breath only...

World Police and Fire Games
10,000 of the World's best Police and Firefighters are in Adelaide at the moment competing in sports similar to that of the Olympic Games.
I have spent most of my free time at the Ice Hockey arena where teams from Russia, Finland, America, Canada, Czech Republic, Australia and Norway have been competing.
Although my understanding of the sport is limited I have been explained most of the rules which has been great.
I have noticed their are some really hot guys under all that padding, I thought I would tease you all, with a couple of images.

Czech Fire vs Vancouver Fire
I love Ice Hockey, ever since I went to a game in Seattle I have tried to watch the Stanley Cup but this is only on Foxtel which I cancelled two years ago.
The pace of the game the bumps and checks, it really is a great spectator sport. I know as a gay boy this might seem weird but I love the V8's and theAFL too.
Don't worry I love to watch swimming and diving, that does make up for it.........?
I must say this event is bigger than I ever imagined with over 30 million dollars expected to be injected into our economy.

Amaechi Becomes First Openly Gay Male Athlete to Sign Corporate Endorsement Deal

It’s a gay payday, and John Amaechi is holding the Money.
HeadBlade® Inc., creators of the ultimate head-shaving razor and the pioneers of head care, has signed the former NBA player to a multi-year contract.
This landmark move will be the first time a mainstream company has signed a sponsorship deal with an openly gay male athlete.
Already in endorsement mode, Amaechi began praising the product soon after the announcement was made.
“I think it’s fantastic that HeadBlade has approached me to endorse the brand,” said Amaechi.
“I jumped on the HeadBlade bandwagon the first time I found out about the product almost six years ago, and have been using it ever since.
Whether you’re black, white, straight or gay, a shaved head is a shaved head, and it requires specialized maintenance.”

Lines in Bondi Sand between Life Savers

IT'S the height of summer but the situation that's hotting up at Bondi has nothing to do with the balmy weather.
It is understood TV series Bondi Rescue is slowly dividing the two beach patrol groups who patrol Australia's most famous stretch of sand - causing rumour mongering and tensions to sizzle.
Levels of unrest between the volunteer lifesavers and the professional lifeguards who have shot to international fame as the buffed and bronzed heros of the Channel 10 reality show is thought to have begun during the first series, and has reignited since filming on the second series began in early December.
The strained situation on the sand is such that rumours have began circulating suggesting the lifeguards who star in the series are "playing up'' to the cameras in order to spice up the rescue action on screen.
"The animosity has been there since season one - when the cameras are rolling the lifeguards tend to take over a situation in order to be in the centre of scene,'' a volunteer Bondi lifesaver told Confidential.
"Now there are even reports going around that the Bondi Rescue team have been staging situations to further up the drama,'' he said.An insider from Surf Lifesaving NSW - which acts as the representative body for Bondi's volunteer lifesavers - confirmed there had been several reports of rumoured staged events over the past three weeks, but said there was no evidence to back up the claims.
The accusations were vehemently denied by Bondi Rescue's executive producer Nick Murray yesterday. "These guys are professional lifeguards and there is absolutely no way this is the case,'' he said.
Would you like to be rescued by a hot man?
In other news the Australian Surf Life Saving Association is celebrating 100 years, as a former lifesaver myself I am proud to see lifesavers being acknowledged.
Australia's first official surf lifesaving club - the first in the world - was founded at Bondi Beach, in Sydney, in 1906.
There was little need for surf lifesaving clubs much before this time as it was illegal to swim in the surf during daylight hours before 1902. It was seen as immoral, and men and women could only 'bathe' in the early morning and late evening, and never at the same time!
It was anounced today that the New South Wales government will be injecting funds into a redelopment to improve the Bondi club to keep it running for a further 100 years.

Colts win Superbowl XLI

Colts head coach Tony Dungy is doused after the Colts beat the Chicago Bears 29-17 in Super Bowl XLI. (AP)
A team built for indoors found its footing on a rain-soaked track and outplayed the Chicago Bears to win the NFL title 29-17. The Colts were far less sloppy, particularly their star quarterback, who proved he can indeed win the big game -- the biggest game.
