German Love Parade festival draws dancing crowd

More than 1.5 million revelers danced through the streets of the western German city of Dortmund on Saturday at the annual Love Parade techno music festival.

A roughly one-mile main road was closed in Dortmund to allow the crowd — brightly and scantily clad and mostly young — to dance to techno music blasted from 37 floats. Some 250 DJs were taking part in the event.

Once a summer institution in Berlin, the parade — staged under the motto "Highway of Love" — moved last year to Germany's industrial Ruhr area.

The original Berlin Love Parade grew from a 1989 peace demonstration into a huge outdoor celebration of club culture that drew about 1.5 million people at its peak in 1999.

Financial problems forced its cancellation in 2004 and 2005. The parade returned in 2006, attracting between 500,000 and 700,000 people, but organizers failed to reach an agreement with city officials — fed up with arranging security and sanitation services — forcing the event to seek another home.

Last year's Love Parade took place in Essen.

Hot and Sexy Copacabana

Last night my partner and I went to Homesexual Copacabana with about 1500 male party goers. Can you see me? I'm wearing yellow 3D glasses looking at my Partner..
By about 1am most were shirtless, the heat was on and sweat was running.

The theme was "Copacabana" which was interpreted in various ways, boys in jeans to boys in lycra swimwear, eye candy was abundant, the music was fantastic with some amazing mixes of abba classics.

It was my fist time in the renovated club, I must say I love it, more space and the raised platforms create terrific site seeing opportunities.

We partied till the early hours of the morning with some close friends before returning home for some wild horizontal action...oh what a night!

Luminere Luna Park (Sydney)

It's been almost two years since the first Luminere, and it will be returning to The Big Top at Luna Park - Sydney on the Labour day long weekend -Sunday 30 September from 1pm til 9pm!

(After Sleaze Ball)
"You've told us what you want and we've listened and read very carefully - you'll definitely want to be part of Luminere. We want to invite you to join us as part of this smaller more intimate "Big Top only" event. "
This was part of the statement emailed to me today from the team from TOYBOX, it sounds like they have learnt from their mistakes at the last one at Luna Park in March.
This is one party I have not experienced but hope to very soon.

Homesexual 2nd Birthday Celebrations

Homesexual is turning two on the Thursday night eve of the APEC summit in Sydney, not that Sydney needs to celebrate the arrival of 21 world leaders, but it's a just a good excuse to party with three days to recover.

In his first gay and lesbian performance – and after a whirlwind two years himself Homesexual is bringing you Anthony Callea live and in person to celebrate their second birthday.

From the heights of Idol to forging his own singing career, Anthony has always been an enigma. Earlier this year he was forced, like many of us have been, to undergo yet another transformation – but he’s emerged with his sense of integrity and talent intact.

Today, Anthony Callea exudes a confidence we can all relate to, taking his music to places he’s only dreamt of. He’s making a new beginning – and where better to start than Homesexual?

Alongside Anthony will be some of the hottest DJ’s in Australia – Jayson Forbes, backed up by Alex Taylor, Terry Vietheer, Shigeki, Kitty Glitter and Justin Scott. And not forgetting a mind blowing Homesexual show by non other than Ashley Swift and cast.

Luminere to Return

To all those who are experiencing that "I need a party" feeling in Sydney you may be happy to hear this rumour.

Luminere produced by the Toy Box boys will be back very soon, after a wait of over three months with no news I can tell you that it will return at Luna Park, my source tells me that their will only be 3,000 tickets available as it will only be held in the big top.

The exact date is not know however I am guessing it may follow the sleaze ball in septemper, and it is certain to be a huge show as after the last one during mardi gras they would have to win back fans.

Stay tuned for updates..

Manolo & Alberto created Matinee Group almost 10 years ago in Barcelona Spain.

The group's touring session is without a doubt one of the best ways of carrying Matinée away from the city of Gaudí and Miró and making sure that the whole world knows about their parties and music.

Its an effort which says a lot about this young and dynamic company's resources and desire to better itself growing relishing in and feeding itself on new challenges every day.

Matinée Around the World: As well as events inside Spain, some of the places where Matinée has left its mark include France, Italy, the US, the UK and Germany.

Back in BLACK

"Inquisition" went off without a hitch on the weekend – practically selling out for the first time in about ten years. It’s certainly re-established itself as one of the hottest parties in Sydney.

The large crowd was sexy, hot, (un)dressed and friendly.
Needless to say Sydney Leather Pride president Doug Pereira is thrilled.

“The pleasing thing about this party was the large number of under 35 year olds attending, almost half of the crowd was under 35,” said Doug.
“SLPA has worked hard to attract a wide demographic to our events.

This party shows that the Leather scene in Sydney is relevant to the under 35 year olds as well maintaining its relevance to traditional leather people.

I'm looking forward to going to my 2nd leather party, this time not looking like a lamb to the slaughter house, like I felt, at the first one that I went too during the Mardi Gras party weekend.

I would love to see my
boy in a little black harness....

Cruise passengers charged in drug bust

FOUR cruise ship passengers have been charged with possessing prohibited drugs following a police operation at Sydney's Darling Harbour prior to boarding for a gay cruise.

At about 1pm (AEST) yesterday, police from the Marine Area Command, Customs personnel and the drug dog squad detected five people in possession of illicit drugs from 1200 passengers boarding a ship for a three-day New South Wales cruise.

A 38-year-old Surry Hills man, who was allegedly detected with 20 tablets, was arrested and charged with supply and possess a prohibited drug.
A 26-year-old man from Wantirna in Victoria, a 35-year-old man from Glenmore in Victoria, and a 37-year-old Darlinghurst man were all charged with possessing prohibited drugs after dogs allegedly detected drugs including LSD, speed and GHB.

They will all appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on April 24.
A 55-year-old man was issued a caution notice after he was allegedly found to be in possession of one gram of cannabis.

Sergeant John Cox from the Marine Area Command said the drug dog operation was launched based on risk assessment and intelligence.

"Police will continue to conduct similar operations based on information we gather and we will continue to arrest and charge any person in possession of illicit drugs," he said.
The cruise ship was allowed to set sail at 6pm (AEST).

My thoughts on this story:

Well done to the police, the cost of the operation would have been into the tens of thousands of dollars to arrest 5 people out of 1200.

It seems we will have to get use to the attention, aren't we lucky we ask for more police protection and this is what we get, the drug squad with dogs......great.

My gosh what about spending the money on protecting the gay community.

I feel safer walking out of a gay club in Adelaide than Sydney.

History - What has led to this...

At a straight rave party a girl died of an overdose, what the media failed to tell us was that this girl walked from the party on her own, and died the next day at her home.
So is the party responsible for her death??? (I was told this fact by one of the medical team at another party)

A week later the police with a massive police presence with drug dogs closed down the Azure (Harbour Party) 2 hours early after arresting 26 people on various possesion and using recreational drugs.

Then they followed this up with yet another large presence with dogs outside the Mardi Gras After Party at Fox Studio's, then the raids on all the Gay Clubs olong Oxford St, now the searches prior to going on a Gay Cruise..all in the Month of March.. whats next?

Please comment..

Police Pooches For Third Week In A Row

Police targeted gay venues yet again Saturday night with police dogs sweeping through Oxford Street at about 5am.

While the police action has been referred to as a routine walk through, it is the third weekend in a row that police have taken sniffer dogs to gay spaces – the first being Azure, the second Mardi Gras party. Both very high profile acts, both very clear statements.

Manacle, Arq, Kinselas and Stonewall were all hit at around 5am Sun morning, one partygoer at Arq saying, “they hung around for quite a while, did about six sweeps of the club.”

One can’t help but wonder how much of this is routine, and how much of it is motivated by something else. Is this really effective policing? Not really, especially when we note that homophobic violence is only increasing on Oxford Street.

According to statistics from the NSW Council For Civil Liberties 73% of people identified by sniffer dogs are not even carrying drugs, most drugs detected are small amounts of cannabis and the dogs are failing to detect drug dealers.

I personally can not believe this action, are they doing this at all the st8 clubs in Sydney..... I bet NOT.

Tribal Tattoo's for Mardi Gras

With all the excitement over the past week I forgot to write about the tattoo's that we got before going to the Mardi Gras After Party.

After having Yum Chow we had a tattoo applied. It is a tribal tattoo, known as the "sleeve" it is located on the most tattooed part of the body.

This tribal tattoo is full of strength and vigour and is instinctively associated with iron, the metal that is synonymous with power.

It was alot of fun, although maybe next time it might be permanent.

Some Questions to be asked now that the Party is Over!

Mardi Gras is over for another year, most people would have recovered by now, I'm still suffering from the effect of a cold. It happens every time, walking in and out of hot venues full of half naked sweaty hot men then into the cold as you move to another venue takes its toll on the body.

Not to mention 44hours of partying with 1 1/2 hours sleep.

The Question I have and I bet others too was asked in SX Magazine.

The installation of police with sniffer dogs at the entrance to the party, as well as a number of recognisable undercover officers inside the venue poses a few questions.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the use of drug detector dogs led to the arrest and charging of a 37-year-old woman for the alleged supply of a prohibited drug, 23 people were issued with field court attendance notices for the possession of a prohibited drug, and 15 cautions were issued for the use of cannabis.

Last week Bourget issued a statement in which he said that Surry Hills Local Area Command (LAC) had assured him there would be no sniffer dogs at the party and he lambasted the use of the dogs at the weekend.

"We weren't made aware that sniffer dogs were going to be at the gates to the party," he told SX this week. "I found out as the party was opening. I was told there would be two sniffer dogs for a couple of hours. I respect the need of the police to do their jobs and enforce the law but I don't believe sniffer dogs are the best way to do that, and I think that is consistent with what the ombudsman has said about the use of sniffer dogs.

I don't' support it as best practice - I think it encourages wrong behaviours among partygoers that has potentially bad consequences and creates confusion and doesn't help police with drug detection, so I'm quite disappointed with that."

There is speculation that the sniffer dogs were installed by Botany, as opposed to Surry Hills LAC, but Bourget was unable to confirm this.

"I saw one van that had a Botany Bay mobile on its bonnet - we will be bringing it up in our debriefing with the police," he said.

Despite several attempts by SX to solicit comment from the NSW Police Media Unit, no one responded by press time.

Indulgence Party at Shift and final say..

The forth and final party that I attended over the 4 days was Indulgence which was a leather and denim party. A crowd of 800 approx partied till early Monday morning to heavy tribal dance music.

Wearing a white D & G belt with white shoes, I felt like a virgin in whore house.

The music was great, but by this stage I had only had had 1 1/2 hours sleep in the past 44 hours and my body was not in the dance spirit.

I left at 6am and have been sleeping for upto 12 hours at atime to catch up.

Well my month in Sydney ends on Thursday when I return home to Adelaide and back to work.

I hope to back by May hopefully for ever.
