Sydney Film Festival Opens This Week

Sydney Film Festival opens this Friday and runs through until the 24th June. With more than 290 films from more than 50 countries across 17 days, the Festival brings the very best in Cinema to Sydney.

The Walker is sure to be a highlight with Woody Harrelson playing a gay, groomed man with a gossipy wit so scathing it could take an eye out. This one also stars Lauren Bacall, Lily Tomlin and Kristin Scott Thomas. A pretty hot female line up in anyone’s book.

2 Mums And A Dad was nominated for a Dendy Award and tells the story of lesbian couple Fiona and Kellie – when they meet Darren he seems like the perfect sperm donor, but when he wants to be Dad, things get a little more complicated.

The Australian film Searching 4 Sandeep will have its world premiere at the festival. It tells the story of Poppy, a woman forced to look for love online even though she lives in Sydney, one of the gay capitals of the world.

Swedish provocateur Lukas Moodysson’s latest film, Container lifts the lid on the confused antics of a screwed up, autistic transvestite.
Just a snapshot at some of the 290 feature films, documentaries, short films and animation films about to hit The Sydney Film Festival screens this month. The festival screens across the city at the State Theatre, GU George Street Cinemas, Metro Theatre and Dendy Opera Quays.
