The main winners were;
Best Gay Event
Amsterdam Pride
Amsterdam Pride is an event the entire city supports, with three wild days of street parties geared towards every type of mate you want. If it's not on one block, just turn the corner for an entirely different DJ and crowd.
Most unique is the "parade" down the city's famous canals, where the floats actually . . . float.
Best Domestic Desination
New York
For a second year in a row, there was no contest that New York is the top gay travel destination in America, if not the world. New York Tourism, the city's official marketing organization, continues to court gay travelers, bringing in first-timers and welcoming back veterans with a raucous seven-nights-a-week bar/club scene, established gay neighborhoods and masses of ethnic and cultural diversity, plus all the art, theater, recreation and buzzing energy that's made the Big Apple famous.
Best International Location
Montreal
Montréal's outreach to the gay community is massive, creative and beyond-welcoming, but most of all, constant. With year-round appeal and close proximity to major U.S. cities, the city's foreign flair and urban-sophisticate edge is the next best thing to a transatlantic crossing.
Destination of the Year
Mexico
Although the countryside remains conservative, Mexico's resort towns such as Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta embrace gay travelers with inclusive gay resorts, heightened quality of food and amenities plus an expanding bar life.
Now, with legal same-sex civil unions in Mexico City and a dedicated tourism rep targeting the gay market, going south of the border for a city jaunt is becoming even more enticing.
Best Gay Resort
Island House Key West
Exceptional service, superb amenities and signature Heavenly beds make this quaint Old Town Key West location just that. Coupled with a clothing-optional policy and some subtle erotic touches, the Island House feels unto itself like an ode to gay men.
